With hotter weather, cool water, long days, amazing flows, and summer breaks – summer is by far the most popular time for a river trip. But ask any guide (or our office staff) when their favorite time to be on the river is and you will more often then not hear ‘the fall’.  Both the Rogue and Hells Canyon of the Snake are amazing in the Fall.

Fall brings shorter days with generally warm daytime temperatures and cooler evenings (cooler than summer).  The light softens, wildlife is easier to spot, migratory birds move through, and the stargazing is incredible. It’s a peaceful time on the river with ideal hiking temps, fewer people, and, on the Rogue and Hells Canyon of the Snake consistent flows that keep the whitewater playful and exciting.

The Rogue canyon tips into Pacific Northwest fall colors, bears are out and about getting ready for the winter, and there are far fewer people. With the Rogue you generally get beautiful weather (but as fall moves on there is more of a chance for some showers). Hells Canyon turns gold, the temps are much more mild then summer (and there is almost never rain), the birdwatching is incredible, and the rapids still have plenty of water. Both rivers are just incredible in the Fall and we have special fall pricing.
