Memorial Day Weekend on the River?

Get Out, Unwind, & Unplug

Get away from the crowds, unwind, unplug, and join us on the river this Memorial Day Weekend. With this year’s amazing snowpack we have Memorial weekend trips from 1 day to 4-days in length, mellow to extremely active whitewater, and ‘glamping’ style camping and our normal very comfortable river camps. All the trips have amazing whitewater, are off the beaten path, and offer a chance to unwind, unplug and get outside.

Memorial Day Weekend Trips:

3 days/3 nights | Evening of May 25 – the 27th | Class IV+/ V | Gateway: Ashland/Medford, OR (MFR) / Redding, CA (RDD)

California’s premier spring run, this is one of the most spectacular class V adventures in the country! This is a signature spring trip and, for many of us, the “Cal Salmon” is our favorite class V river in the U.S. It combines beautiful, lush coastal scenery, an intimate, marble-smooth, granite inner gorge, a seemingly endless number of waterfalls cascading in from above, emerald-green waters, tons of wildlife, a comfortable pop-up base camp, and unequaled class IV-V pool-drop whitewater. This is truly a world-class, high-adventure run.

3 days | May 25th – 27th | Class IV | Gateway: Ashland/Medford, OR (MFR) / Redding, CA (RDD)

Clear Creek is like no other stretch of river in the country and one of the most unique trips we offer. Tumbling out of the Red Buttes Wilderness Clear Creek carves an extremely narrow and rocky gorge with a rainforest feel and crystal clear water – there are places where the canyon is not much wider than our kayaks. The trip combines high adventure, spectacular beauty, pop-up riverside glamping, and a chance to run a stretch of river that is rarely seen (or even heard of). The highlight of the trip is ‘Clear Creek’ – a spectacularly beautiful, remote, and extremely rarely run tributary of the Klamath. It is truly a magical place.

4 days | May 24th – 27th | Class III/IV | Gateway: Ashland/Medford, OR (MFR)

The Rogue River is an iconic American classic, one of the country’s great summer wilderness trips, and a founding member of the National Wild and Scenic River System. It is everything people imagine a Pacific Northwest river to be. There are over 80 rapids and the whitewater is fun and exciting yet safe. The rapids and the choice of craft make the Rogue almost unmatched in its ability to satisfy a wide range of tastes and skill levels. It is not uncommon to have trips enjoyed by three generations of family or friends. You have the choice of sitting in relaxing oar boats, participating in more exciting paddle boats, or navigating the whitewater in an inflatable kayak (this adds a big level of excitement to the rapids).  Many of our Rogue dates book a year in advance.

1 day | May 25th and May 26th | Class IV+ to V | Gateway: Ashland/Medford, OR (MFR)

We have two day trips going from Ashland Memorial day weekend (some guests are doing both!):

On Saturday we have the Upper Klamath –  One of the finest and most exciting class IV+ whitewater trips in the west! Packed with over 30 major rapids there are few summer trips like it. It is our signature Ashland day trip.

On Sunday we are running a rare 1-day Class V Scott River Trip (we generally run it as part of the Cal Salmon). The Scott river is a lesser known sister river to the California Salmon and shares many of its attributes. It is an incredible and seldom run river with world-class whitewater. However, the Scott’s whitewater is more technical and continues in nature with long complex boulder gardens laced with steep drops.
