Idaho’s Salmon River is one of the longest free flowing rivers in the United States and cuts through a vast area of incredibly rugged Rocky Mountain wilderness – the largest wilderness area in the Lower 48. The canyon it creates is the second deepest on the continent and it has a timelessness and mountain grandeur that is matched by few rivers anywhere. It is one of the last big mountain rivers remaining in the world that is undammed and for 85 miles it is virtually untouched by modern civilization. It is a rafting trip of a lifetime, a multi-sport adventure, and one of the world’s premier wilderness rivers. It also lends itself perfectly to our Farm to Fork trips with perhaps the best beach camping anywhere.
Farm to Fork Events, is a traveling farm-to-table restaurant, local food fundraiser, and community celebration rolled into one. Farm to Fork Events are designed to reconnect people to the source of their food, and to honor the talented farmers, food artisans, winemakers, and chefs that contribute to the growing culinary reputations and local food communities. They began in 2010 to rave reviews, a very excited local community, and ending up selling out every dinner. They are amazing to work with!
The trip will be hosted by Mathew Domingo, Farm to Fork Event Director & Chef, and Chef David Padberg of South West Portland’s new restaurant Raven and The Rose. Each evening we will float to our river side camp and enjoy three course dinners paired with local wine. The dinners will be served under the stars in our “wilderness dining room”. Each dinner is inspired by the local harvest and will feature local meats and produce. A local Winery will supply wine for the trip and the owner will be along to introduce the wines and answer questions.
25-30% of the proceeds will go towards Local Farms (we will buy directly from them), Farm to Fork, and Friends of Family Farmers.
The trip includes:
- Transportation to and from Boise Idaho including a scenic small plane flight to Salmon Idaho.
- All river equipment.
- All camping gear (including ultra-comfortable 3″ sleeping pads) if needed.
