“I can’t say enough about how the team made this experience all about “our” experience, and about “our” adventure. The team couldn’t do enough for us, and did it with great modesty, seemingly vanishing in the background so that the river and our experience would be the main event, not them… I’ve been in the business world a long time, watching people try and fail to develop a service model anywhere close to what the guys pulled off in the wilderness. For me their kindness and caring made the adventure complete and gave me a satisfaction and long lasting impression that I’ll never forget…”
We have very little turnover and are like a big extended family – but we are expanding and we are always looking for friendly and talented people!
Experienced Guides:
We have an extremely high return rate among guides. However, as we grow, we usually have a few openings each year for experienced guides. In general we only hire people with a minimum of 5 years of previous commercial whitewater guiding experience. However, we sometimes hire guides with less experience if they are an extremely good fit. We are extremely proud of the trips we run and our guiding. Our guides are all very talented, professional, hardworking, and above all friendly, gracious, and humble.
A few reasons guides love working here:
– We are a small company that runs a huge variety of rivers. And we want guides to run as many of them as they can. While we will work with guides to put them in their favorite areas for most of the season, we don’t do ‘core crews’.
– Guests come first – our goal is to show people wild places that we love in a way that they understand and are comfortable with (as opposed to the way an average guide would be comfortable with). And to be a friendly, gracious, humble, informative, and comforting hosts.
– You work with experienced guides who are some of the best in their field.
– Connections and room to grow – We are connected to some of the world’s best companies and destinations and encourage our guides to see as many rivers and wild places as possible.
– For those interested, we run a lot of off the beaten path, expedition style, and big whitewater trips (although that is not required – We value amazing, friendly, and hardworking people above all else).
– Great pay and tips – the combo is among the best in the industry.
– Our goal is to professionalize guiding and outfitting so we can provide sustainable living wage jobs with a balanced lifestyle. Because of that, guiding for us is hard work.
– We believe that a guide’s greatest gift to rivers and wild places is showing people them in a way that they understand and are comfortable with so that they are more likely to fall in love with that place (and want to protect it).
