The Class IV Premium is one of the best summer whitewater trips on the West Coast – If you only have 1-day, this is the trip to do. It is a continuous downriver trip through a beautiful canyon with only limited road access (no getting on and off a bus mid-trip). And… it packs every single Class IV rapid on the Lower Kern into a single day. The day is split by a short ‘portage’ where we walk the rafts around a spectacular but unrunnable cataract. The portage and the beauty and power of the location add to the overall quality, excitement, and authenticity of this run.
