Our Kern River Rafting Safari was featured in Travel and Leisure

Two Days of Whitewater & a Safari-inspired Camp - 3 hours from the Los Angeles Area

“after drifting 10 miles down the Kern, we arrived at Momentum’s base camp. An enclave of safari-style tents set atop wooden platforms—inside two of which, as if by magic, our luggage awaited—the experience was like being shipwrecked in a place you never want to be rescued from.”

Our Kern Rafting Safari was on the cover of the latest Travel and Leisure and there is a great article by writer David Amsden on the ‘Wilderness Gourmet’ version of the trip (there are also some great travel ideas from LA to Kernville). Here is a link to the article >>

We added a few more Wilderness Gourmet dates with Chef Mathew in August and there is still some space left >>. There are also openings on our standard Kern 2-day trips in August (the trips on the Kern end Labor Day) – a few on weekends but more options during the week. It is a perfect quick gateway from the LA area.

We are in our second season on the Kern and our goal was to combine the world class whitewater and access of the Kern with our newest backcountry base camp to make an exciting but approachable outdoor getaway in the Southern California area – just 3 hours from the LA. The feedback has been incredible, I am so excited that it is taking off, and it has been so cool to see a mix of ‘river people’ and people who had never even thought to do a river trip joining us for a few days.
