Oregon’s coast is the muse of Oregon, the dreamy seducer of our state: it’s rugged, dramatic, mysterious, and simply gorgeous. The Oregon coast stretches luxuriously over 363 miles of free and public coastline and offers something for everyone… except perhaps a tan.
History buff? Check out the many museums and lighthouses, including the mythical Tillamook Rock Lighthouse. Fun for the kiddos? They’ll love splashing in tide pools and joining the Kite Festival in Lincoln City or the Sandcastle contest in Cannon Beach. Adventurers run misty trails, surf and paddle board waves big and small, and of course kite surf with the endless supply of wind.
The seafood is fresh off the boat and contains Oregon specialties like Chinook Salmon, Albacore Tuna, Pacific Halibut, and Dungeness Crab. And naturally, because it’s Oregon, a great cup of coffee, artisanal bread, or craft beer is never out of reach.
The closest beach to Ashland is a 2.5 hour drive and can be a superb day trip or a week-long vacation.
