The Upper Klamath with Wilder Projects – Wilderness Gourmet River Safari

A Farm to Table style active Culinary Adventure with Wilder Projects

Join Momentum River Expeditions and Chef Matthew Domingo on the Wild and Scenic Upper Klamath for an active farm-to-table style wilderness gourmet river safari.  Featured in Sunset Magazine, this trip is a uniquely amazing way to experience the award-winning Upper Klamath Safari Camp, big summer whitewater, remarkable chef-prepared communal meals featuring wine & seasonal foodstuffs sourced from Oregon farms & vineyards, and craft cocktails prepared by our bartenders.

The Upper Klamath whitewater safari combines rafting big summer flows down rapids that are over a football field long, an ultra-comfortable ‘safari style’ backcountry camp (think glamping), and options for mountain biking, running, inflatable kayaking, and fly fishing. The Upper Klamath cuts a steep wilderness canyon through the Cascades of Southern Oregon and is one of the finest and most exciting class-IV+ rivers in the West. This is a uniquely action packed and comfortable 3-day luxury camping adventure. There is no other trip like it in the United States and Portland Monthly named it one of “Ten Once-in-a-Lifetime Cascadian Journeys”

For nearly 10 years, Chef Domingo has been preparing seasonal feasts out on some of the most beautiful rivers in the Pacific Northwest. He spent his early years cooking in some of Portland, Oregon’s original farm-to-table restaurants, he founded one of the nation’s preeminent farm dinner companies in Farm to Fork Event Co., worked as the Corporate Executive Chef for one of the country’s leading outdoor culinary brands, and today when he’s not cooking riverside with the Momentum team, he is the Culinary & Creative Director at Wilder Projects – a marketing company that works with artisan food & beverage brands. Chef Domingo’s cooking is centered on the use of locally-sourced seasonal ingredients from land & sea, and his meals feature creative, elevated takes on classic recipes and flavor profiles across a variety of regional cuisines & cultures. Chef Domingo’s communal culinary experiences are designed to allow guests to slow down, reconnect with nature, savor the moment, and create lasting memories.

Chef Domingo and his team will be chefs and hosts, and every afternoon we will pull into our unique and comfortable ‘Upper Klamath Bush Camp’. The camp is a safari style riverside base camp located deep in the canyon and only accessible by raft. Set among ponderosa pine are shaded walk-in tents with cots and private decks, a shaded eating area, showers, hammocks, and the ‘UK Bar’. The late afternoon can be spent hiking, fly-fishing, playing games in the sun, having a craft cocktail prepared by our bartenders, or just hanging out in a hammock. In the evening enjoy multi-course communal feasts paired with local wines. The dinners will be served under the stars in our “wilderness dining room” and will feature seasonal ingredients from land & sea.

Join us for a unique and active culinary adventure with three days of big whitewater, lots of activity options, a beautiful canyon, comfortable nights at our safari style backcountry base camp, and multi-course, seasonal feasts served in a dining room where the sky is the ceiling.
